“Adopting senior dogs has taught me that companionship, devotion, and joy are ageless. Giving a dog in their golden years a second chance at life in a safe and loving home is such a gift for everyone involved. With the two seniors I’ve been lucky enough to care for, we needed each other more than we needed years. True love has no timeline.”

BENNY - Can you foster me?
BREED: German Shepherd
AGE: 10 years (est)BENNY has been selected to have his adoption fees sponsored by the @1510foundation 15/10 Foundation!
This big guy is a bear of a love!
He had a really rough start, and we want to give him a chance at the love and affection he never received in his younger years. Benny absolutely love people, although we think he was left alone a lot, so he’s shy meeting people.
Benny needs to be the only pet in the home, but don’t worry - he has plenty of love to give!

Bruce has excellent house manners, he's housebroken, he kennels well he is an all around very good boy.

CHAVEY - possibly bonded with Rocket
BREED: Chow
AGE: TBD
Chavey (male), likely bonded with Rocket (female). We haven’t tested them apart so I’m not sure if they could be separated or not. It’s really hard to tell if they are bonded as they both just kind of do their own thing. The only thing I would add is how anxious Rocket gets being in a new home with people she doesn’t know - Chavey might be her comfort in that situation.
With them both being chows and having a stereotype I wanted to express how gentle and well behaved they are. I have not seen any aggressive behaviors from either of them towards new people, dogs or children. Even with Rocket being scared of my young daughter, she's never shown any aggression toward her. They are even excellent at the vet's office. Their previous owner also said they were good at the groomers.
Chavey is a very “easy” dog and goes with the flow. I believe he would be great in many types of homes.
Loves to sleep all day. He seems to be great with everyone. He is very mellow with children and doesn’t mind them (currently living with a toddler).
They seem to like dogs, Chavey just has to be reminded to give space because he’s a bit of a space invader upon first introductions. I have also noticed recently that Chavey will bark if another dog gets near his food, although he will let Rocket eat out of his bowl. Rocket gives plenty of space and watches from a distance. They have been great with my two medium sized dogs. I waited quite a while before full on introducing them. They also did good with my mom’s small dog when she came to visit. Livestock I have no idea. They will likely chase cats as they seem reactive on walks.
They can make it through the night. They both will whine when they have to go outside.
No health issues other than some eye medication for Chavey. He currently gets an eye ointment that is once a day but may change in the future, as well as a medicated ear cleaner that is one to two times a week for life. He may need an eye procedure but that is still undetermined at this point.
They definitely need regular grooming at the groomers but I think they also need some in between brushing to take care of their coats properly. Chavey will just lay there to be brushed. They also need regular ear cleanings (1x/week).
They don’t seem interested in toys. They are both food motivated, love snuggles and scratches, they play together sometimes. Chavey’s favorite thing seems to be sleeping. They both also really enjoy going for car rides and do excellent in the car.
Neither of them bark much at all, just a little bit if someone’s at the door. They do like a whining/grunting thing mostly.
They sleep in their dog beds, on the floor or on the couch.
During the day I’m at work so I’m sure they sleep all day. When I’m home Chavey is still sleeping, Rocket follows me around. When I feed them, they have to be fed separately because Chavey will just eat his and Rockets food.
I take Rocket for a walk every evening, she walks 1-2 blocks a day. Chavey walks down the street and back a couple times a week. It kinda seems like he just likes to lay outside and people watch. He needs someone who can handle his strength although he seems perfectly happy not going for daily walks. During walks he will just refuse to move and then lay down.
Do they have a prey drive? (Chasing after squirrels, cats etc.) Yes, cats
How long have they been left alone? 8-9 hrs
Please inquire if you are interested in one or both of these lovebugs!

CLAYMORE *adoption pending*

CONNOR
BREED: German Shepherd
AGE: 9 years
AKC registered. He is a perfect gentleman and very well-mannered. He is fine with other dogs and loves kids - cats are unknown at this time.
Connor would make a great outdoor gardening partner. He loves being vacuumed and would prefer a house with no stairs. He unfortunately spent most of his life living outdoors but his foster mom is working on getting him more comfortable inside.Foster mom says:
Conner is a very special guy. He has been kenneled all his life and not taught social skills, but he is the sweetest big guy. When he came to me, he didn't know what a toy was or what to do with a dog bed. It took my grand-dog to show him how to use a dog bed for the first time in his life! He knows “come” now as well. We're still working on toys, mostly they are to hold in his mouth for security, something he can call his own. He will take something of mine (like a shoe or slipper) and carry it around in his mouth -- he never chews it, it’s just a comfort item.
Conner loved the company of my grand-dog, but she is more active than Conner, so we had to curb her wanting to play more than Conner could tolerate. Smaller energetic younger dogs are probably not a good fit.
I don't know about cats, but my guess is that he'd be fine. He saw the wild rabbit that has taken up residence on my property and followed it slowly -- curious more than anything. He can't really give chase because of the arthritis in his hind legs. He has been around chickens and paid them no attention.
Connor has been great with both men and women. Although he wouldn't dream of hurting anyone, he also doesn't know his body parameters. When he rushes to you for lovin', he can step on toes/feet or provide a hefty body slam which could knock a smaller child down.
Conner is a sedentary guy -- although he's alert, he "chills" a lot. He would do best in a single story home with little to no stairs. He has never had an accident in the house.
He's not really a snuggler but he loves his hugs & grooming. He can't get on the bed or couch, but he sleeps right by my bedside.
He has arthritis in his rear end so needs 2 prescriptions: NSAID & gabapentin; and 2 supplements: glucosamine/chondroitin & CBD oil.
At first, because he hadn't ever been groomed and had an undercoat from being in an outdoor kennel, he needed brushing twice daily for 1/2 hr each time. After several weeks of that, it is manageable for 15 min every couple days.
I've only heard him bark twice in all the weeks he's been here, both times when he could tell I was about to leave the house. Other than that, he has never barked at anything. I have a fenced acreage and he has the run of the property, so he has had lots of opportunity to bark if he was a barker.
Because of his background, I would never crate him. Conner doesn’t like being left alone, but there is no destructive behavior involved at all. I leave him in the house when I go & he does fine. Other than that, he hasn't been fearful of anything. -

HACHIKO
BREED: Lhasa Apso
AGE: 15 years
Hachiko was loved immensely for 12 years by the same couple. They adopted him as a rescue at the age of 3. He’s got some life still remaining as he’s been extremely well cared for and loved, including a full set of teeth with regular teeth cleanings !!! They have all his vet records and it was extremely hard for the couple to give him up, but their circumstances just didn’t allow them to remain together. We are in regular contact with his owners, providing updates and pictures. They still love their little old man and want only the best for him. He’d make a great companion in the house and overall is a very easygoing man!
He would do best in a quiet home where people are home most of the time for him to relax with and be close too. He doesn’t tend to play with other dogs or have a need for a lot of exercise. Just to be close to those who love him.
He is not much of a snuggler but does want to remain close to you at all times, including bathroom breaks! He lays at your feet when you’re sitting down and will walk with around the house. He struggles a bit with stairs so hopefully we can find a home for him where he doesn’t have to worry about stairs being an obstacle.
He is getting along with both the small and large dogs at his foster home. It is unknown how he is with cats and livestock.
He just like to chill out and relax. Great companion dog that doesn’t require much attention besides just being with him. Minimal activity required. At 15 he just like to chill at your feet. He is a very relaxed dog.
No major health issues and we have all his records at the Banfield Vet in Bend. He does not like baths. We had him groomed at his vet and he will require regular grooming.
His eyesight is not the best and he does get startled by quick movements or unfamiliar crowds of people in the house. (Kids coming over, etc). For this reason we recommend a household with older children or no children as he has a tendency to “nip” when he is startled.
Hachiko is mostly quiet, and his hearing is not the best at his age, but he does bark when the rest of the dogs bark. We put him in his crate when we leave the house. He goes in and barely complains, but you have to physically help him into the crate.
He sleeps in his bed downstairs. When we turn the lights off and go upstairs, he puts himself to bed in his little bed and is quiet for the night. He’s potty trained and used to using a doggie door. We let him out multiple times per day with the other dogs and he does just fine. No accidents and he sleeps downstairs through the night with no accidents.
He did come with a number of toys, of which he’ll find a specific orange ball. He likes to roll the ball around with his nose and chase it on the wood floors. He keeps himself entertained for a period of time, until he gets tired and then he’ll sit down and relax.

HANK
BREED: Lab mix
AGE: 10 year
Such a gentleman!
Rides in the car great! Not a bark or whimper... Jumps in when you say "load up"... He knows basic commands... Sit, lay down, and he fetches and will play tug of war until you tell him to "release". He is potty trained, no indoor accidents... Asks to go outside. He loves to lay at your feet and snooze. He will run after a running cat, but has no interest in catching it. He is underweight, but his appetite is grand! It won't take long for him to fill out.
Hank loves to play fetch and play with squeaky toys. He is very nimble and can run and jump and play. He seems comfortable in a home and helps himself to the couch and bed. So far he seems good with the other dogs but doesn’t engage with them much. He got a long great with the other two dogs in our house, both littles. He's not a constant barker, very quiet. He's a lover!

ROCKET - possibly bonded with CHAVEY
BREED: Chow
Age: 8 years (est)
Rocket (female), likely bonded with Chavey (male). We haven’t tested them apart so I’m not sure if they could be separated or not. It’s hard to tell if they are bonded as they both just kind of do their own thing. The only thing I would add is how anxious Rocket gets being in a new home with people she doesn’t know - Chavey might be her comfort in that situation.

They are even excellent at the vet's office. Their previous owner also said they were good at the groomers.
They are both very sweet, gentle, and love to be petted and loved on. They love to be outside exploring the yard or just sunbathing. They have shown no aggression towards people, children or dogs.
She is a bit of a nervous, jumpy dog and takes a long time to settle into a new home with new people. When she first arrived to me and her previous owner left she wouldn’t come near me and wasn't comfortable coming in the house. I believe she needs an adopter that understands she needs time and space to feel safe, as well as a quiet mellow home…without cats.
Rocket is scared and nervous around children and runs from them (currently living with a toddler). She would do best in a home with older/calmer children (10+) or a house with no children.
Rocket loves to walk and will pace around if she’s not walked everyday. She will bolt out the front door and does not have recall. Both of them walk really well on a leash with no pulling, it’s just when there is a dog or cat nearby that they pull.
They seem to like dogs. They have been great with my two medium sized dogs. I waited quite a while before full on introducing them. They also did good with my mom’s small dog when she came to visit. Livestock I have no idea. They will likely chase cats as they seem reactive on walks.
They can make it through the night and they both will whine when they have to go outside to go potty.
They definitely need regular grooming at the groomers but I think they also need some in between brushing to take care of their coats properly. Rocket will tolerate it but it’s a little difficult to get her to stay for longer periods. They also need regular ear cleanings (1x/week).
They don’t seem interested in toys. They are both food motivated, love snuggles and scratches, and they play together sometimes.
Chavey’s favorite thing seems to be sleeping and Rocket's is walking. They both also really enjoy going for car rides and do excellent in the car.
